General Questions

Every weekday, we make moves. Most transfers take place between 8 a.m. and 10 p.m.; however, our staff is happy to facilitate after-hours actions if necessary. On a limited basis, holiday appointments are available.

Local moving in New York is charged by the hour, but our hourly pricing is determined by the number of team members required to accomplish your move securely and effectively. Get a free relocation estimate right now!

Yes, our minimum hourly rate is simply three hours.

If you have any date or time constraints, we recommend planning your relocation as far ahead as possible, especially if you’re moving during the summer. There are no deposit or cancellation costs with Mount Vernon Movers, so there are no disadvantages to booking your move early. However, if you call with a last-minute request, our crew will do all possible to accommodate you and your movement.

Cash, PayPal, and all major credit cards are accepted.

A deposit is not required. We recognize that plans change, and we do not believe in imposing fines for cancellations or adjustments. However, if circumstances change and you need to change or cancel your move date and time, please give us as much notice as possible so that we can work with you to reschedule your move! We can also provide another customer on our waitlist your original move date and time if you give us enough notice.

We provide local moving services throughout New York and are delighted to help with long-distance moves to Massachusetts, Connecticut, Vermont and Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, and New Jersey!

While damage is uncommon, extenuating situations can sometimes lead to damaged articles. Our crew will do everything possible to repair any damages as quickly as possible and to your satisfaction. If you need to file a damage claim, contact your move coordinator, who will work with you to fix the issue as soon as possible.

Yes! Our moving vehicles are fully equipped with handling equipment, blankets, and all of the moving supplies our staff requires to make your relocation a success. While essential moving equipment is included in every move, your move coordinator will list any additional supplies you’ll need on moving day.

Because an estimate is only that, the actual moving hours may differ significantly. All bills are prorated to the nearest 20 minutes to ensure you only pay for the time you utilize (after the 2-hour minimum has been met).

While you are welcome to assist in getting things ready for the moving staff, our insurance only allows Mount Vernon Movers crew members to load and unload the moving truck. Take this opportunity to kick back and relax. In contrast, we take care of the heavy lifting!
